CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Check for Responsiveness
- Check if the person is responsive by tapping and shouting.
- Call for Emergency Help
- If the person is unresponsive, call for emergency help.
- Open the Airway
- Tilt the person's head back slightly to open the airway.
- Check for Breathing
- Look, listen, and feel for normal breathing for about 5-10 seconds.
- If Not Breathing
- If the person is not breathing, start chest compressions.
- Chest Compressions
- Place the heel of one hand on the center of the person's chest, just below the nipple line.
- Place the other hand on top of the first hand.
- Use your upper body weight to push hard and fast (at least 5 cm deep and at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute).
- Allow the chest to recoil completely between compressions.
Rescue Breaths (If Trained)After 30 compressions, give two rescue breaths if you are trained to do so.Ensure the airway is open and provide breaths until emergency help arrives.
- Continue CPR:
- Continue the cycles of chest compressions
and rescue breathsuntil emergency medical personnel take over or the person shows signs of life.
- Continue the cycles of chest compressions
